Technical Properties
Yellowish-white (bleached) powders made from various types of hydrated and air-hardening natural lime, very different high-quality clinkers, additives, and special ingredients. When mixed with the product MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2, a plastic, easily applied mortar is obtained, which can be applied with a trowel and has a working time of approximately 20 minutes. The mortar mixed with MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2 hardens into a waterproof mass with low tension, thus reducing the risk of cracking to practically zero.
MORTEX® COLOR 2-F1/F2/F3/F4 product range allows for achieving finer finishes until a transparent layer is reached. The products MORTEX® COLOR 2-F3 and MORTEX® COLOR 2-F4 are intended exclusively for decorative finishing.
PURPOSE / USE

SUBSTRATE AND PREPARATION
The substrate must be sound, dry before and after coating, clean, matte, free of dust and grease. It must be solid, frost-free (not resistant to frost) and not crumbling.
Remove all loose or weakly bonded parts, as well as materials that may impair adhesion. Thoroughly clean dust. There must be no standing water on the surface during coating.
If the substrate consists of different types of materials, is unstable and/or has seams (e.g., tiles), it is necessary to take precautions to avoid movement due to expansion, differences in internal stresses, and shear. It is essential to ensure proper substrate stability. If in doubt, contact us. It is always advisable to conduct a test.
To achieve uniform absorbency, start with undiluted primer RESIDUR and apply a bonding layer on the substrate. On glass, glossy tiles (note the "shadow seams" without using a base layer with the product MORTEX® COLOR 2-N) and smooth surfaces, after roughening the surface, use RESIPACT G primer. Once the primer has dried (approximately 6–8 hours, depending on the substrate's porosity and environmental conditions), begin applying MORTEX® COLOR 2-F.
If the substrate has already been covered with a MORTEX® brand product, there is no need to use a primer.
MIXING PREPARATION
Follow the mixing ratios indicated in the table, depending on the type of MORTEX® COLOR 2-F powder used. Pour the liquid MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2 into a clean container and gently add 2/3 of the powder. Mix at a low speed (400–600 rpm) with a mortar mixer, gradually adding the remaining 1/3 of the powder until you achieve a homogeneous mass without lumps.
To color the mortar, add dry pigments to the mixing liquid or to the powders. If necessary, sift the pigment through a fine sieve. Use only BEAL COLOR range pigments designed for MORTEX® products.
Always compensate the liquid amount for the added pigment's porosity (from ½ to 3% of the added pigment volume in the liquid MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2). Example: If 500 ml of pigment is added to the mixture, an additional 250 to 375 ml of MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2 liquid must be added (total: from 5.25 to 5.375 l of liquid for 25 kg of MORTEX® COLOR 2-N mix).
To ensure slower setting, pre-add RBE3 additive (from 1.6 to 8 ml/kg of powder) to the mixing liquid and mix before adding the powder. To make the mixture thicker, under the same conditions, add FBE3 additive (from 2.2 to 4.4 ml/kg of powder). Never use both of these additives in the same mixture.
At a temperature of 20°C, without additives, the mixture can be used for about 20 minutes. Low temperatures extend the working time, while high temperatures shorten it.
Note: For specific tasks requiring greater elasticity and lower compressive strength (e.g., certain moving cracks), other MORTEX range mixing liquids can be used: BEALFLEX and BEALELAST (see their technical descriptions).
COATING
Always use RESIDUR, unless there is moisture or risk of moisture in the substrate, or if the MORTEX® product is used as a base layer.
The MORTEX® COLOR 2-F product range is applied with a trowel (plastering trowel). Other tools (brush, roller, spatula, combs, etc.) can be used purely for decorative effects.
In enclosed spaces or damp environments, condensation may form on the surface. Before applying the next layer, it is essential to thoroughly dry it with a sponge.
POLISHING
After the selected MORTEX® system has dried for 48 hours, the dry surface can be carefully polished (sanded) with 100–150 grit sandpaper or mesh abrasives.
Important: never damage the particles that make up the technical layers.
PROTECTIVE MEASURES (VARNISHES/WAXES)
The mineral-based MORTEX® COLOR 2-F surface resembles natural stone, which can be protected from external influences to maintain or change its original appearance. Protection can be applied 48 hours (at 20°C) after the last layer of the system has been applied.
Depending on the purpose of the object, choose protection from the guidelines in this table:
- Public / private floors, stairs: Polythane N120, Oil OH, Bipur.
- Showers or areas in contact with water (wet areas): Finish SA (for walls only), Oil OH + Bealwax, Bipur, Bipur + Bealwax.
- Countertops in contact with water: Polythane N120, Oil OH, Bipur.
- Walls or furniture requiring special durability: Polythane N120, Oil OH, Bipur.
- Terraces / Facades: Repeloil, Repeloil + Bealwax.
VARIOUS INFORMATION
TOOL CLEANING
All tools are washed with water while the product has not yet hardened. If the product has already started to harden, soak the tools in water for 30 minutes before cleaning.
MAINTENANCE
- Unprotected MORTEX® product: maintenance without corrosive agents.
- Protected MORTEX® product: follow the technical description of the corresponding protective measure.
- To maintain cleanliness: FINISH SA TR diluted in water.
- To remove lime deposits: vinegar diluted in water (start with a low concentration and increase according to water hardness).
WARNINGS
- Work areas must be protected from rain, sun, wind, and cold until completely dry and fully submerged in water (if applicable).
- In closed and poorly ventilated spaces, strong condensation may occur after application due to lower wall temperatures. You can quickly resolve this issue by increasing ventilation. It is prohibited to use moisture collection devices for the first 28 days after application..
- It is strongly not recommended to apply on materials containing salts (sodium sulfate, nitrates, calcium, etc.).
- Due to limited chemical resistance, it is not recommended to use the MORTEX® COLOR 2-F product range mixed with water.
- MORTEX® COLOR 2-F1 and F2 products, mixed with MORTEX® BEALCRYL 2, retain their water-resistant properties only with a balanced chalk and carbon water balance.
TIPS
- “BEAL” strongly recommends attending one or several training courses on MORTEX® products.
- Follow the usage instructions precisely. Never use other products than specified to avoid the risk of defects.
- Always conduct test trials with the chosen protective agent, as each pigment and protection reacts differently.
- For the same object and product type, always use products from the same batch number.
ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY
- Environment: Dispose of waste at a specialized collection center.
- Safety: The composition contains lime, cement, silicates, and additives. Do not inhale dust while mixing. Protect your skin and eyes, wear gloves. If it comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and consult a specialist doctor.
